IHOP substituted their lettuce for kale. Yes! All of it! They didn't add kale into the mix, they just outright substituted kale for lettuce. Kale has such a distinct flavor by itself, and they didn't cut the stems off.
We all would shovel a forkful of kale into our mouths and chew and chew and chew. Every time we looked up someone had stems hanging out of their mouth, so I made it a point to say "Mmmmm! Kale!" every few minutes.
When we checked out we mentioned our dissatisfaction with all that kale. The waitress said, Oh, I know! That's from the Home Office. I said to them, 'What?! Are our customers llamas?!'" And thus, this card was born.

that story is too funny and i hope each person in your card club received one of these cards. oh my word. i can't imagine eating a full on kale salad. it's hard stuff for me to enjoy and i love salads and leafy greens, just not so much kale. LOVE the fun of this card.
