Workdesk Wednesday-A Fabulous Day

Here I am joining up with the bestest blog hop around for the second week in a row. Check out Workdesk Wednesday if you fancy a peek at other's work spaces and latest creations.
I don't actually have any latest creations today as I'm fussing about with the Valentine's cards I made previously. The idea is to get them in the mail (wait for it......) before Valentine's. Radical, I know!
Here's an artistic view of what's on my desk. The far left pile is things in progress which is growing instead of shrinking like I'd like. In the middle of the desk I was adding some small sequins to the unicorn cards and on the far right side is a stamping kit I just got in the mail.
If you came here to see cards, here is a random easel card I made a couple of months back.

The Fine Print: For the purists WOYWWers the desk photos are from last night. It is mostly picked up now and the stamp kit opened. Also, only 3 Valentine's mailed (so far!).  Easel card stamps and parts by Club Scrap "Random Doorways."

Centre Swing Card

I was perusing the latest Quick Cards magazine and decided to take a whirl at their featured card class which was the centre swing card. Yes, the Brit spelling since the magazine comes from across the pond.
Tucked Closed
First I mocked up the card using the centimeter measurements given. I felt that was too large so then I chopped it up and remeasured it in inches and for a bit more American size.
Standing Upright on Display
After I made it though I couldn't figure out how one was supposed to fold the thing flat for mailing. I fussed it one way and then the other and both looked ridiculous. I figured the point of the card was how it looked standing up on display so decided that there wasn't a way to fold it flat and have it look good.
Lying Flat Open
I mentioned that to my hubby and showed him what I meant. It only took him a moment of fussing with it to determine that the two side flaps tuck underneath the die cut focal point (top photo).  Duh! Now it can look good upon receipt too. I decorated the side flaps on both sides so the card can look good when tucked closed and when swung open.

The Fine Print: Stamp by Lily of the Valley, card template adapted from Quick Cards Card Class Issue 146 Christmas 2015, large circle die by Spellbinders, fancy corner die by Cheery Lynn. This was surprisingly easy to make but no, I'm not going to teach you how to make it.  Buy the magazine and then scale the template down some.

Easel Cards

I made these easel cards recently. What I mean to say is I started them several weeks ago and just got around to finishing them off.  I was following the directions provided in the infamous Dream in Color kit. The easel they teach fits into an A2 envelope, which is what I prefer to make.
My first go at it got me confused and I ended up with a card whose backside was much longer than the front. I tossed it aside disgustedly.  Later I got the brilliant idea of just cutting it down to make a short and squat easel.  This one fits into the personal correspondence size envelope (whatever they call that).

It was just a happy accident that it worked out that way. Not wanting to distract much from the surreal background I just added a greeting, some punch art, and a metallic purple butterfly.  It was impossible to photograph without glare.
This is what that first card was supposed to have been. We were even given dimensions to cut the red and green overlay pieces as well. I like that brainless crafting. However, I took the brainless too far and stamped the greeting sideways on its layer.

I tossed that aside with the card with too long of a back to be fixed right on another day. For whatever reason, I decided I would try a third easel.  The third time is a charm, right?
I cut and folded this easel on plain white glossy cardstock. I didn't want to add more red and green to it so I tossed it aside with the other reject easel cards and called it a day.

I finished it off this past weekend with the others. I used the dream word collage pieces for the edges and the same greeting as the previous card.  I used paper flowers for embellishments because the card needed something and it needed something that wasn't too weird.

Excessively Easily Easel

At some point in my life I bought a set of decoupage fancy-cut easel cards to put together.  So I finally sat myself down and finished them off.  That was easy.
I stamped the greetings onto the pieces provided and added some of my own embellishments to finish them off.  After that I couldn't really decide how to photograph them except for excessively.

The Fine Print: I don't remember where I picked these up at except it was some fabulous on-line place that is housed in Canada but they will come across to New York to mail to the US.  It is probably a good thing I can't remember who they are as they are hard on the wallet and I already have an excessive amount of stash.
