Dream Day Sunday

I think that dreams mean something. And I don't mean that like how you read a dream analysis book* and they say: Oh, you dreamed about a tomato, that means you are going to be invited to a wedding. I think that dreams are far more personal. They are your brain pondering a situation or trying to work something out.

That said I like to try to figure out what my dreams were telling me. Sometimes it is real obvious and other times it is a puzzle. Sometimes the big obvious thing (the elephant in the room) in the dream isn't the message your brain is trying to send you.

I don't think all dreams means something. Occasionally your brain has extra energy to spend and slaps you with some weird ass stories to use it up with. I find that happens if I take certain medications or vitamins in the evening. For a night of vivid dreams, pop some B vitamins before bed. I find those dreams to be not conducive to a good night's sleep. It's like you stayed up all night watching television.

Most of those kinds of dreams (for me anyway) tend to be epic adventures with large casts of characters. Sometimes even those have some deep seating meaning.  I have a friend who also has the epic dreams with large casts. She once noted that in dreams you skip the boring parts and just jump from one adventure to the next. She's so right and that's a good way to explain how/why dreams jump around so much.

No Rain in the Forecast

We don't have rain in the forecast today. In fact, the forecast says it will be like 400-bazillion degrees today, but that's just business as usual for us.

The lack of rain doesn't mean we can't all enjoy this card I made though, celebrating those not so dry days (they do happen here, I swear, we get at least 1.5 a year if you add all the hours up).

This is one of those rare cards where I decorated the inside as well.

Gone Quackers

We actually have rain in forecast for tomorrow according to the clouds and lightning bolt icon on my weather predicting machine.  That's kind of interesting.... and completely off season.

I still haven't bought myself any wellies* which is a shame because when it rains for real the rain hits the ground and bounces back up and you get soaked from the knees down.  Not that it is really going to rain tomorrow (she says as a flash flood carries her away).

The Fine Print: *Go Britain! Wellies is such a better name for rain boots than rubbers, which sound like I need some ribbed-for-her-pleasure Trojans. When Skies are Gray

Today the skies are gray, the sun is weak, and the thermostat can barely muster up the strength to crawl over 70 F. That almost sounds like umbrella weather.

We are currently having 8 inches of rain--8 inches between each drop.

When Skies are Gray

The skies are not particularly gray today, but it is monsoon season and subject to change at any moment.

Which means that at any moment, you could make me deliriously happy.  Or maybe just delirious.  Or maybe it isn't you at all, but because it is Friday and double payday (hubby and me).  Can't beat that with a stick.

Seriously, Take the Sunshine

I made this card at a workshop a couple months ago but didn't finish it.  There were some more chipboard elements to glue on and I didn't much care for the color sentiment was stamped in so I hadn't tacked it down.  I found it on my desk today so thought I should finish it off and call her done.

I left off the extra chipboard pieces and did a similar sentiment stamped in black and edged in pink.  I think I'll add some bling to either edge of the sentiment piece now that I think of it.  If I could package it up and send it I'd definitely send you some of our sunshine.  Now I love the sunshine and am a big fan of vitamin D, but a little less heat and sun would make this desert lizard happy.  Just for day, mind you.

Rain, Rain, Come Today

I've been a really good kid today.  I think I should be rewarded with some nice rain.

Of course in this weather it would just turn to steam and burn the heck out of everybody so maybe that is a bad idea.  Darn you, Mother Nature!

Weird Phenomena

The queerest thing happened this past weekend.  The sun didn't get up in the morning and the sky growled at us.  Then this watery wet stuff fell from it.  It was completely odd and possibly unnatural. 

That kind of weather reminds me of how as teens our mother would tell us, "Don't forget your rubbers!" which would send my little brother into peels of laughter.  We live in Southern Arizona, we don't have wet weather gear, which is a shame because I'd looked darling in a pair pink polka dotted boots like these.

Happy Valentine Day!

Why yes, those are Fahrenheit numbers, why do you ask?  This is what Valentine's Day in Southern Arizona should be about--melted chocolates, wilted flowers and lots of tan happy people.

Here's a Valentine notecard I whipped up for the occasion.  I had to laugh at my bandit in hot pink pants, not exactly stealth clothing! 

And here are the giant flowers my hubby got me for VD. Aren't they awesome?!  Charles the cat thinks they are for him, so we won't tell him otherwise.  He was sitting on the carpeted stool there admiring them until I got out the camera--then he had to chase its strap around.

Nighty Night

I went to bed at 8 p.m. last night which did not meet with approval from my housemates, which is kind of surprising considering 4 of my housemates are cats.  Cats usually jump on the opportunity to lay around and snooze, but this time they jumped on me.  And pounced my feet.  And stuck their faces in my face. And played fight and bite with each other on top of me.

My hubby didn't want me to go to bed then either because he was sure I'd be awake at 4 a.m. and want to go dancing.  What is wrong with that man?  I never want to go dancing.  He was right that I was awake at some random time in the middle of the night.  It wasn't because I was done with sleeping, oh no.  It was because I was staring at the ceiling, puzzling at the odd noises coming from there.  It turns out it was this very rare phenomena called "rain."

Musings

How come at work when you call Plant Operations to tell them your office is too cold they suddenly crank it 15 degrees higher?  So then you have to call them and tell them it's too hot and next thing you know icicles are forming  off the overhead bins.  Do you suppose the Plant guy does this at home as well?  "Hmmm... it's too hot, I'd better put the thermostat as low as it will go."  I'm convinced he does.

Lied to by Mother

I was recently in a card swap called "raining cats and dogs."  We were to make a card using cats and/or dogs and/or a rain theme.  Most participants went for the pets, but I went for the rain:

That's because it is monsoon season here in Southern Arizona.  Doesn't that sound exciting--Violent storms complete with thunder, lightning, and torrential downpours of water from the sky?!  It sounds great, but it is all just one big lie coming from Mother Nature.  We get the dark ominous skies that grumble and send out lightning bolts, but that is where it ends.  The clouds move on and dump their precious cargo of rain elsewhere.  Mother is such a tease.
