Happy Pumpkin Day!

I'm going out on a limb and say that the Stephanie Bernard Sizzix Fold-it Pumpkin die was really popular this year.  I base that assumption on the contents of my mailbox this season:

 

Pee Pee

Oh my, that didn't come out right. Pee Pee is the initials for Paper Pumpkin. What were you thinking? Anyway, back in January I got a special kit for special people (it came with a helmet and non pointy scissors, oh wait, not that kind of special).

I wasn't convinced about the suggested card design but fuddled forth and made one of them. It was as I suspected--less than exciting, so I put the PP kit and its 7 other card parts aside. I felt bad that I hadn't revisited it, so I pulled it out and made this exciting card.

There is hope now for the other 6 cards and maybe I can even fix up that first card.  You know, in another 7 months or so from now.

Trellis Die

The other day I decided to look inside this box that has the old fat Sizzix dies. My thought was I would probably purge them because I haven't used them (except one) since I moved. In fact, I haven't used them for quite awhile before that either. At one point in their lives I used them quite a bit but then thin dies became a thing and...

However, as it goes once I looked at them I thought that maybe I shouldn't purge them, maybe I should try to remember that they exist and use them more often.  I immediately pulled out this old favorite and made this card.

So we'll see how it goes with this box of fat dies. Although, I have one more die than fits in the box so I should come up with at least one of them I can live without. Right?! No, don't say "or buy a new box." That way lies madness.

The Fine Print: All products by Stampin' Up however that trellis die is long retired and the Fresh Fig and Powder Pink things aren't available yet., so don't be rushing out to add to your stash. 

Charles Barles

This is Charles. He's kind of nuts, but I like him.

This is not Charles, but it sort of made me think of him. Charles usually isn't that introspective though. I sent this card to my friend and afterward she showed me how she shaded it in with inks. I was really impressed with the results. If I tried that it would have been a hot mess.

Charles tried shading himself in once with blue ink. That was a hot mess too with lots of random pawprints everywhere.

I've been too busy to share a card I made and write about it. So here's a card I received. I'm not going to write about it though, except to say CUTE!

Play Date

A few weeks ago, before I caught the plague, my friend invited me over to her house to play. Of course I said yes, because once you become an adult you don't get invited over to play much anymore. It's a really sad thing.

Anyway, she had invited several ladies to come over and play. The purpose of our gathering was to make Valentine's cards. I had a ridiculous amount of Valentine embellishments lying around so I brought them and we had a grand old time playing. These are a couple of the cards I made.

Wild Tag Art

So I was poking around in the depths of my craft closet and I found four sheets of punch out tags with various sayings on them. The four sheets all had the same tags on them and came two different colors. I figured I should at least use one of the sheets and I set to work making these.

For some reason I felt the need to include a wild animals theme along with these tags. As you can see my version of "wild animal" is pretty tame.

I ran out of steam after 3 cards but at some point I may just finish off that sheet of tags.  I am kind of pondering one of the tags though, thinking maybe I should cut off who said the quote. He's kind of a controversial figure these days but back when these were printed he was just a run of the mill millionaire businessman.

Dove of Peace

Here's a card design that could be a nice winter design or even a good one for the holidays. I actually made it for a music themed card swap. I was excited to get to use my Pretty Pines die set since they didn't get much use this year since I got them so late in the game. Expect to see more of them next year.

Time's Slipping Away

An artistically inclined friend of mine brought some items together so we could all make cards. I must have gotten distracted by a shiny thing along the way because I ended up losing the hands to the clock she provided.

I decided to go ahead and call the card done because time has always been a slippery concept for me anyway. I'm one of those people who can't wear watches because they quit working in short order (both my brothers were the same way; it must be our alien blood) and I've never been good about estimating time.

I thought the card was rather cool but I felt that maybe it was trying to make an artistic statement, except I don't know what that statement is. What do you think?

The Fine Print: Clock die by Cheery Lynn, everything else.... who knows, but that bit inside the clock is fabric so it probably came from a fabric store!

Winter's Butterfly

I'm feeling quite bummed that I don't have a security camera so we could link the video of UPS tossing my package over the gate this evening.  It would be so trendy!  I barely could get in since it blocked the inward swinging gate.  I almost had to call UPS to send the delivery dude back to boost me over the fence.

I do have two cards to share with you tonight.  I've mentioned before that I am a big fan of card kits and as such I subscibe to Annie's Attic cardmaking kit of the month.  I finally got around to playing with December's kit which featured all things snow.  The kit came with papers, punch out die cuts, flock, glitter, and embellishments.  I only used a smidgen of the stuff from the kit but I'm sure you'll see more of it in action soon.
