No Nudity

A friend of mine says that mail isn't nearly as fun when it comes in a plain envelope. To that end, she never sends out a naked envelope herself. She decorates her envelopes with a snippet of designer paper that coordinates or matches what she used on the card.

Whenever I do workshops with her I always come out the other end with a matching envelope because she insists. That's quite fine. I don't send naked envelopes myself, jazzing them up with stickers or washi tape or both. This time though, I embraced my Inner Susan and made this card and matching envelope.

The Fine Print: All products by Stampin' Up except the actual envelope. My friend says if you cut up your designer paper into 6x6 hunks you can get a card with matching envelope from each square. That works if you use A2 envelopes. I don't usually have A2 envelopes as I get A6 ones free from work from the recycle bin after graduation. However, this year I only got about 25 of them but I did get a nice fat bundle of A2 envelopes for my birthday. Expect to see more decorated envelopes! 

June!

I meant to share my June calendar with you yesterday since it was the first day of June but it was a much too busy day for me. So here it is now. I'm ready to get my beach babe on! Hey, did you hear the best way to get a bikini body? You take a bikini and put it on your body!

Here's a fishy card because that fits in with our swimming theme (you didn't even know we had a theme, did you?!).

It is supposed to start cracking 100 degree on a regular basis this week, so I'd best get this shared now before the furnace oven kicks in.

Mail Bag Monday - May 29

We don't actually have mail coming or going today but the past week has seen some action. I'll start with some birthday cards. This first one took a 24 day tour of the continental US before stopping here and the second one I forgot to photograph because it was sitting on my desk at work. I took it there to keep it safe for a certain Siamese cat who thinks it is her card. 

These swap cards were received this week.

 This one was hand delivered but that still counts as happy mail!

Happier Day

I've shared this card all over the place today I might as well share it here as well, right? I made it for my friend's birthday. I ended up having to write in big fat Sharpie on the inside bottom (HB from Judy--very poetic words) since I didn't leave myself anywhere to write. I included the greeting on the back since I felt that was an important part of the card.

As you may have suspected these twist and pop cards are a bit thick. I put it in a smaller A2 envelope and put that in a bigger envelope. I then put 2 stamps on it. I was going to drop it in the PO drop box on the way to work but circumstances were such that I had the time to take it inside to check on postage. It would be kind of rude to send a birthday card postage due. They said due to its thickness it cost $2.67 to mail (on top of the postage already on the envelope) since it was considered a parcel. Well, now... I'm willing to bet if I had just dropped it on the drop box it would have gotten to its destination just fine on two stamps.

Rounding Up

It's like this. once upon a time several of us were talking about the cost of those giant rolls of foam tape that you can buy at Office Max. I made the comment that I love those rolls but that the $40 cost was a bit breathtaking. One other lady took exception to my comment. "They aren't $40, they are like $34.99, plus some tax" she exclaimed.

To me though, if you hand over two twenty-dollar bills to someone and all you get back is a enough to buy... well, functionally nothing, that's spending $40.

So my boss is out of town now, but before she left I reminded people who were doing things that required her approval that she'd be gone for three weeks. Everyone retorts back, "She told me two  weeks."

Let's do that math. we'll even make it easy. She'll be back June 13th, so 12 days in June is almost two weeks all on its own plus the 6 days in May she's been gone. Why, by jove that adds up 18 whole days. I suppose that isn't really 3 weeks but it sure as hell ain't 2 weeks either.

And you know, she isn't going to breeze into the office on the 13th and approve everything in sight. Mostly likely she'll sit at her desk all dazed and jet lagged until the first meeting, which runs into the next meeting and the next and maybe a couple of days later she'll get around to approving all those things that were turned in during her absence even though there was no reason you couldn't have gotten off your lazy ass and turned them in before she even left.

Anyway, it's the weekend, why are we talking about work??

Trellis Die

The other day I decided to look inside this box that has the old fat Sizzix dies. My thought was I would probably purge them because I haven't used them (except one) since I moved. In fact, I haven't used them for quite awhile before that either. At one point in their lives I used them quite a bit but then thin dies became a thing and...

However, as it goes once I looked at them I thought that maybe I shouldn't purge them, maybe I should try to remember that they exist and use them more often.  I immediately pulled out this old favorite and made this card.

So we'll see how it goes with this box of fat dies. Although, I have one more die than fits in the box so I should come up with at least one of them I can live without. Right?! No, don't say "or buy a new box." That way lies madness.
