Abracadabra!

You want to know what I did the other day? I made a magical card. It looks like this, with a pretty papered frame and some black images on kraft.
What's so magical about that you ask? Well, pull the tab...
And then you can see that the flowers and fruits come out colored. Isn't that fun? I learned to make these a million years ago with my grandmother-in-law. She embraced this technique and made lots of them calling them "Grandma Magic Cards." I did maybe one or two more.

Later on in life I wanted to make one but the ink we used to make them no longer existed (Memories). Everyone said to use StazOn ink now. I hate StazOn ink. I've had 3 different StazOn ink pads and nary a one of them worked. I even bought a StazOn reinker and dosed one of the pads with no luck. So enjoy this Grandma Magic Card by me because there aren't going to be more of them.

The Fine Print: Ink by StazOn in case you missed that, stamps and designer paper by Stampin' Up.

Lucky you with your grandma-in-law, this is fab, and don't give up, ink the stamp really really well, keep tapping the ink pad on it, failing that, have you tried embossing on heat resistant acetate? This technique is on my to do list since I saw an easier version from the first one I ever tried, but guess I'll have to try it alone, no Grandma's to guide me xxx

ha! THAT is way too cool. i got rid of all four of my staz on pads. kept the black one in case i ever have to stamp on acrylic. but it doesn't work very well.

Oh this is amazing Princess J. I have never seen anything like it.
I couldn't persuade you to tell me 'how' could I?

Love these "magic" cards and haven't made one in a long time. Yours looks great.

I'm with you on the StazOn front . . . because I don't like the fact that it STAINS MY STAMPS and the cleaner seems to dry out & harden the rubber! ALL my oldest rubber stamps that I know I used StazOn with are harder than ones I haven't used it on. I prefer Ranger Archival Ink these days for a permanent waterproof ink. Mind you - I've had one dryish ink pad of that too!

Hugs, Sarn xxx

This is absolutely fabulous Judy. I did an ATC using that technique some years ago and wouldn't have a clue how to do it now. Those yummy strawberries are a super surprise. Love it. Barbxx

I love these magic cards! I've watched some YouTube videos on how to make them but I still haven't taken the plunge. They look sort of tricky! I have a number of Staz-On inkpads and have never had an issue. My black pad is going dry now and I'll have to reink it but I've had it for many years. I don't have reinkers for my other colours and haven't used them lately so I hope they're okay. I only seem to use the black one.
