The Workdesk on a Wednesday

If you are like me and like snooping around other people's crafting spaces then you will want to check out What's on Your Workdesk Wednesday. Truly it is a fine blog hop that shows you where the creativity happens, which I always find interesting.
Things have been added, removed, and shuffled around since last time but ultimately not much has changed. I'm starting to pile more things up to play with than I will have time for so I'm going to have to make some choices.  Below are some of the things I have to pick from.
I don't really want to talk about what is *on* my desk this week, but I'd rather talk *about* my desk.  I wanted a rolltop desk since I was little and finally got one when I was in high school.  It was made of pressboard which isn't built to last and after several years of hard use it developed a lean.  Hubby and I decided it was time to replace it with a real wood desk.  We went to multiple stores and over and over sales people would ask what I was looking for in a desk (real wood, rolltop) and what I wanted to do on the desk (paper crafting).  Over and over sales people would shake their heads sadly and insist that no one should be doing crafts on a lovely piece of furniture like a real wood rolltop desk.  Those sales people tried hard to talk me out of my rollrop desk, which as you know I did eventually get. The other day I ran across this beauty:
They are now making a real wood roll top desk specifically for the paper crafter.  Oh yeah, narrow minded sales people, who's laughing now??! If you want to see the features of this desk and other wonderful storage ideas go to Stamp-n-Storage. However, no cursing my name after you go there.
And here's a card since if you aren't here to talk about workdesks you are here to see what I've created recently.  I  made this at  Stampin' Up workshop the other night.  The flowers are embossed on brayered vellum.

The Fine Print: Only 70 some more shopping days until my birthday, if you like to buy me that new rolltop desk. I'm sure a couple of you could get together and spring for it.  I'll even let you have my current one in exchange.   Flower and leaf stamps by Stampin' Up "Secret Garden" set, happy everything from a retired set, Swiss dot embossing folder.

Love your card too. All that white space is just wonderful and the addition of the beautiful flowers makes it lovely.

I've always thought your desk gorgeous, but wow, the new one you found, it's amazing! Not even going to bother going to see how much that is, yikes, I'd just get paint or sharpie all over it anyway!

VERY pretty card, it makes me think "spring!!!"

Thank you for stopping by this woyww, Princess Judy. Just for the record, it wasn't actually MY skirt, but I won't deny wearing something similar back in the day!

Oh dear, now what am I going to do - after all the trouble I had finding my rolltop desk, having it shipped and transported to my home and finally getting it up a narrow spiral staircase to my craft room - and after all that you go and show us this beauty!!I just don't believe it!

We love your desk. We recently replaced our corner desk with a hideaway desk, totally unsuitable for art and craft but we still wanted one,

That desk is gorgeous! If I win the Lottery, I'll buy you it for your birthday (in 70days' time!) Do they make one for sewing too???
Btw, that is the sweetest card and I love the sentiment :-)

Your desk is lovely, Judy - and so is the card - so delicate. Well done.
Thanks for the visit earlier. Yes, it was rather heavenly just sitting making things. I don't get as much opportunity as I would rally like as hubby is at present very dependent on me for everything he needs - so interruptions galore. Yes, you did read rightly. He did indeed make me a card. Because of damaged joints, he can't do intricate work these days - so he designed it in Serif's craft artist, then printed it all out as a single layer piece. Rather special. I made one for him, too - using a Debbie Moor Art Deco design.
Have a great week - and I trust you will survive all the thunderstorms.

I love real wood desks, my first craft desk was a family heirloom and I was nervous until my Ma said 'it's a desk, not an ornament'! Love your desk and the card this week. Love your fine print too, I am cracking up...nice try :) Cx #28

Such pretty delicate flowers! My grandmother had a hug, beautiful roll top desk that I wish I had. It would be awesome for a craft desk! I wonder whatever happened to that old desk...

Your card with the oh-so-gorgeous vellum flowers is simply deleeshus! My flowers never look this pretty. Love the soft colors agains the white dot E/F - very classy. TFS & Hugs

Hello Princess Judy,

Looks like you have some decisions to make (the things on your desk -- Not a new desk). I like the deer head silhouette stamp.

The craft roll top desk looks amazing! I'm not even going to go to that site to check it out..... might as well not tempt myself.

Thank you for visiting me already.

Happy belated WOYWW

I love your desk and the other one is FAB too. My Mum has one but I'd have no room for one. Love the card, the flowers are so delicate. Sorry I’m a bit late replying this week, too much Winter Olympics to watch, harp to play and everything, thanks for the visit BJ#77

Oooh, boy, what an awesome desk that is! Who doesn't love a roll-top; someone was really thinking and had you in mind, PJ!! I hope you get it!!

That vellum card is the star of the post though!! OMG, that is extraordinary! So pinning!! Hugs, Darnell

salesmen know nothing about trends huh. My grandmother had a tambour desk (for that is what it's really called), and I coveted it from a young age. And I didn't get it. So, if there's to be a collection to buy you that desk, I will only contribute on the basis that I get the discard. Plan. I think so!

Now that really has the right to be called a craft desk. It is beautiful. Oh and your card is pretty too I like the velum flowers.

Judy, I have to agree that short minded sales people will try to talk you out of everything. I know when I had my basement studio remodeled, the contractor tried to "sell" me on certain things. I finally had to put my foot down, because I knew what was best, and obviously, so do you. Although I liked that other desk, yours truly fits the bill.

I'm running late this week because of more power outages, this time accompanied by loss of my phone and internet. Happy belated WOYWW from #3. But I think you should keep the desk you have. YOU know how lucky you are (grin).

How dare they tell you not to craft on a roll-top desk... the reason beautiful old furniture looks beautiful is because it's been loved and used and central to people's lives... and what could be more central than crafting? Am daring to click the Stamp and Storage link - but you're probably right to add a disclaimer...

I'm sorry, you cannot be a real crafter since I can SEE THE TOP OF YOUR DESK. Liar liar pants on fire.

In other news, I love that roll-top desk, but it would not work in my world. I have SHELVES and DRAWERS of ribbon, for starters. I might have a problem.
