Chalkboard Christmas

As a kid I hated chalkboards and chalk. It had to do with being allergic to chalk and chalky substances. I remember a teacher forcing me to write at a chalkboard anyway (under the guise that it was non-allergic chalk) and then my hands itched terribly all afternoon.  All that to say I don't have fond memories about chalkboards so I wanted to curl into a little ball and weep when I heard that Merry Monday was doing the chalkboard technique this week.

So after I was done sniveling, I put on my big girl panties and dealt with it. After all, the chalkboard technique does not involve actual chalk or chalkboards. It does, however, involve heat embossing that is a whole other story!

So these are my two messy chalkboard cards. I had heat embossed up a couple more greetings but haven't gotten around to them yet. It turns out that the chalkboard technique isn't nearly as tramatic as I envisioned. You should try it out!
The Fine Print: Greetings, big snowflake, and red/cream ribbon by A Muse Studio, small snowflakes by SU, holly punch by Martha, woodgrain embossing folder by Sizzix, papers and frilly ribbon from my stash.

Two love cards Judy. I'm sure you found this chalk board experience a much happier one. What a mean teacher she was. Barbxx

Great job with your chalkboard cards and the chalkboard technique is much cleaner than a chalkboard and chalk. ;)

Two fabulous Christmas cards Judy, your chalkboard effect sentiments are perfect - I'm glad the experience wasn't as traumatic as you envisioned.

hooray....i've been tossing the chalkboard idea around for a bit wanting to but just not coming up with good ideas. these are great. i like the messy one. i didn't like chalkboards in school either because i was humiliated standing by one and not know the answers to the math problem i was forced to do in front of the class on the board.

Glad you survived the trauma - and I think your chalkboard sentiments look fab - especially the really chalky one... great when there's no itching to go with it.

I'm loving that technique and as often as I've been stamping - I have yet to try it! LOL Your cards turned out just beautiful! (look Ma, no itchy hands either!)

OH that teacher was cruel! That's terrible! I was never fond of chalk either, but not due to allergy, I just didn't like how it got all over me somehow. You did great with your chalkboard technique! I especially like the second one! And kudos for getting some Christmas cards made! I like to make them all year long - no panic in November!

I'm sorry this challenge brought back such traumatic memories for you, PJ, and that you got a bad apple for a teacher. Grrr! It makes me hope that karma is a real thing and then I start to imagine how that might look and I smile. Well done you, for pushing the trauma aside and making two really fabulous chalkboard CCs! Hugs, Darnell

Good job with the chalkboard technique Judy considering your fetish with them, I used to hate it when the chalk would screech as the teacher used to draw. Thanks for sharing at Merry Monday.

Oh, I love your cards! And to think that you had to push a trauma aside to sit down and do them... well done!
