Mailbag Monday-Last Day in July

Here's what the mailman brought me last week. There is a fun birthday shaker card, a wonderfully colored beach scene (so wish I was there right now) and a hilarious housework card popped up in 3D goodness. Check them out.

Lemony Goodness

I recently bought myself a bundle from the newish Stampin' Up catalog. It was a lemon. I mean that it had lemons in it not that it was defective in anyway. The cool thing about this bundle is that it came with a good old fashioned punch. You know, the precursor to dies.

I gotta say I found it lots of fun to play with.

It's Time for Rudolph!

I know you are reeling around in confusion asking yourself, "Isn't it only July? How come Rudolph is here? I haven't wrapped any presents. Heck, I haven't bought any presents!"

Ah, calm down, little one. It is only the Rudolph Days Christmas Card Challenge for those people who want to get a jump start on their Christmas cards.
And I do! I do want to get a jump start on my Christmas card, except for I'm not doing very good at it. I did get this little mouse done though so that's something. Here's hoping this gets me a on roll.

Mason Jar Madness

After showing off two mason jar cards yesterday I thought I should share my contribution to the madness. Here's my mason jar card. I told the friend that I sent it to that I must like her a whole bunch because I used Staz On ink. That's some serious stuff right there.

Monday Mail on Tuesday

So yesterday just didn't work for me. Luckily today is another day and the skies are blue and the sun is shining.... and. Oh. Wait. I was just told from an Informed Source who came in from outside that the sun is not shining and the skies are gray. Such is life when it is monsoon season.

Anyway, onto the mail. This past week the postman started out by bringing me this fabulous sparkly mermaid card as part of a weekly card exchange. Mermaids are so hot right now.
Then I got this delicate die cut card. It's so pretty. It has a hint of sparkly and shine to it that you can't tell from the photo.
And these two cards came in the late evening hours on Sunday as the week wound down. The mailman left them with the neighbor. You might notice a mason jar theme. I also got the cool mason jar shaker stickers.

The Fine Print: I got nothing. It's Tuesday. It's happening. I'm not sure what "it" is, but it's happening.

Blaurgh

This post is only a test. This is just a test of the PJ Posting System. If this had been a real post you would have had some really cool and insightful words to read here.

You Can Do Anything

Recently there was a discussion crawling through my Facebook feed about which of these 4 superpowers would you pick? I don't know remember what they all were but one of them was invisibility.

As someone who drives many miles across town every work day with an apparent cloak of invisibility on, I can say with authority it ain't something you want. I'm constantly dodging and weaving other drivers who I guess cannot see me.  Remember, invisible doesn't mean invincible!
It's a real hassle. As far as superpowers go I think I'd like the one where I could eat anything I wanted and magically be physically fit (instead of physically pfft).

Tag, You're It

My stamp club does a tag swap each month when we meet. I don't usually play along mostly because it slips my mind and also I'm not really a tag kind of person.

I played this month though because the theme was "Life's a Journey" and a tag by any other name is a bookmark. That just worked too well together for me to pass up.
Not the best photo because I took it in the middle of a thunderstorm in the dark under my desk lamp which gives off some sort of unearthly light, but you get the idea.

Super Duper Girl

Look! It's a bird! It's a plane! No! It's Super Duper Girl!
I made this card for an open-to-your-interpretation card exchange called "Crash, Boom, Bang." I think since this exchange is happening in July they were thinking fireworks, but Independence Day is over and done with so I opted for what popped into my brain--the sounds a comic book hero make when fighting the bad guys.

You know: Boom. Crash. Bang. Biff.  The "biff" is always a favorite one of mine.

Anywho, that's all I got for you today.

A Taste of Ice Cream

Sometimes all you need to make everything in life feel fine is a scoop of ice cream. Sometimes you need more than one scoop.

Here's hoping that you aren't having a 5-scoop day.

Monday Monday Monday

It's time for mailbag Monday where I show you the mail I received in the last week. I only got one thing leading me to believe that one of you is pilfering mail out of box. Right? I mean that's the only logical explanation.

Yes, there are two cards here but the top one is from the previous week that got left out. Since we seem to be lacking cards I'll show you this magic mushroom card I made the other day. A friend said to me that her mushroom background paper wasn't nearly as colorful as mine. I told her that's because she hasn't colored hers in yet.

A Duck in a Truck

Love is in the air. So is humidity. It's okay though because we actually got rain to go with it.  For visual proof, see the photo below.
Yes, that is a rubber ducky floating the back of my truck. You can also see a zillion paint chips and the like from our recent house painting. The other fluff is pollen. No wonder my allergies are a mess. I truck in pollen from work!

Mailbag Mania - July 10

I only have one card to share with you this week. It isn't that I only received one card in the mail--I got three. I sort of never got around to photographing the other two. But that's something to look forward to for next week.
This card is nice and sparkly and festive and fun. It inspired me on a card I needed to make. I can't share that with you either because that picture is still on my camera.

I'm sounding pretty hopeless but in my defense, I'm seriously allergic to my own house. It got painted this weekend. Our little pink house is now a little brown house. I guess it really isn't "little" but it isn't a McMansion either although we contemplated moving into one during a moment of madness.

Anyway, it's the fumes from the paint (and probably all the dust that got stirred up) that is wreaking havoc on my allergies. Probably I should leave my house outside to air out...
I card I made.

Thank You Twice

I copied this from a good friend of mine because it was too fun not to copy. If you ask me, it's the paper that makes it. Or maybe the colors. Or maybe the design. Yeah....

The Artist

I recently found some of these 3D decoupage sheets stashed away. I had them all set up to make 4 cards but somehow never finished them. I made this one first and another one second, and then called it a day and put them away so I can pull them out again in a decade or so.

The Fine Print: Some lady copied these and sold them to our stamp group for the price of the copies, probably a violation of several federal laws.

Fall Has Not Fallen Lately

I found some autumn colored papers tucked neatly away in a stash 'o stuff and suddenly had the urge to use them, which I did even though fall is currently nowhere in sight.

The Bus is Late

At work I often have to do a shift on the switchboard for our department. The phone number is for our department but it is treated like a general information line. I guess I should clarify that it is treated like a general information line for the college I work for. We're not in the business of giving general information for all of life's little follies.

But that doesn't stop people from calling and asking us about them. The other day I was asked if I could Google a phone number for a casino "after all you have a computer right there in front of you." Indeed I do so I did. The very next call was asking me what road the airport was on. I mentioned to my fellow phone-answerer these calls and she told me she recently told someone how to cook fish.
I suppose it is all fine and well if we aren't busy and we know the answers. Yesterday a different phone-answerer got upset because the caller wanted to know why her city bus was late. My coworker told the lady she had no idea and that was a question best asked of the city bus people and offered to look up and give out the city bus hotline number. But no the caller insisted that she called our number all the time and "that nice lady" would look up her route and times for her.

I can attest that I am not that "nice lady" because I don't know the first thing about riding the bus and neither did the my coworker. The lady insisted and persisted, wanting to talk to the supervisor about our lack of customer service. She hung up in a snit before we could get the supervisor involved (and he said he backed us all the way for not giving out city bus information).

Seriously, the city bus people will know if the bus broke down, or was hijacked, or if the routes and times changed. All we know is that we are the end of the line for several different city bus routes. I guess we also know that unless you pay a return fare the bus driver kicks you out here rather you wanted to be way out in the desert boonies with us or not.

The Fine Print: Still celebrating my independence from riding city busses and all that other good stuff. Stamps and banner punch by Stampin' Up. Other stuff from my stash.

July 4th

Happy July 4th no matter where you are or what you're doing. Hopefully it is something fun.
I made my July calendar so now I know what the date is. It's the 4th in case you didn't catch that.  The 11th has a star because it is a little known national holiday--hubby's birthday.

I still don't have a July calendar to show you but that's okay because time marches on whether you acknowledge it or not. I do have mail to share with you though.

The Neverending Month

This is the day I would normally show you my July calendar page, but according to this calendar, we aren't done with June yet.
The Fine Print: That and I haven't actually made my July calendar yet because I was convinced that June would never end. BTW, that mini calendar has July 1 in the right place.
