Cupcake Girl Birthday

The other evening I decided that this lovely lady with an enormous cupcake was just what I needed to wish a friend happy birthday. I poked around in my various stashes and found the scalloped heart already cut and then ran across this designer paper that matched so well. Thus this card was born.
Since I used scraps and snippets to make this card I am skipping over to Pixie's Snippet Playground to join in the week 222 fun.

Wednesday Workdesk-The March 30 Version

Here's my WOYWW Certified Wednesday Work Desk. Except for the lack of pesky cat it looks quite a bit like last week's desk. I have some stamps and card toppers I want to play with, acrylic blocks lying about, rechargeable batteries that need recharging (if only I remembered where I put the charger), some "new" goodies from my generous friend, and embarrassingly my blog candy win from Fiki from mid-February that I keep forgetting to photograph and show it off. One of these days....

I don't have any in-progress cards or projects to share with you today. I haven't totally gotten back into the swing of things. Here's another view of the craft room for your entertainment. This shot is from standing behind the desk (you see a corner of it on the left). You can see I still have things piled about but easily accessible for playtime.
The Fine Print: That's it for WOYWW this week. Hope y'all are having a great day.

O Tannenbaum

This week at Merry Monday the theme is Christmas Carols. Perverse me could only think of such gems as "Grandma Got Run Over by a Reindeer" and "Mr. Hanky the Christmas Poo" which made me think perhaps I should sit this challenge out. You know, just for your guys' sake.
But I stuck it out and came up with some caroling kitties who are not singing about feces or murderous reindeers. They are singing "O Christmas Tree" in German because they are multi-lingual kittens.

That said I am also going to link up to Scrappymo's Rudolph Days with this card because I think that's expecting too much of me to crank out two Christmas cards this week. In fact, I think I need a nap now.

A Sympathetic Card

I made this sympathy card yesterday. I decided I didn't want to do a morose, dull colored card. Being sad that someone passed is gloomy enough, why not send a card that has a bit more perk to it.
I hope no one feels that I was out of line. I do sometimes march to the beat of different trombonist than the rest of us and usually it works but sometimes not.

Friends

Since I don't have anything I've made to show you right now I'll show you something my friend H made and sent me.  It's a real stunner.
It is fussy cut, layered like there is no tomorrow and quite glittery as well. I plan to hang it on my inspiration board at home (just as soon as I find the missing magnets for it).

The Fine Print: The border punch is by Martha, but that's all I know.

Cadbury Happiness

I saw THIS post on Sarn's site which included the niftiest Cadbury Egg Throne and I said to myself, "Self, you have to make this for your coworker." And so I did. And she squealed with joy.

Easter Bunnies

I've decided that I'm not a big fan of Easter cards. Every year I have good intentions and every year it goes rather bust. I did manage to make a couple cards each of these two versions. I actually started a third version and got interrupted. I'm pondering sending out those bits and pieces and calling them "Some Assembly Required" Easter cards.

#355 Workdesk Wednesday

It would appear that there is a cat on my work desk. I have no clue where this thing came from. It just appeared out of nowhere and doesn't seem to be particularly useful. It hasn't completed any of my Easter projects for me nor has it tidied up the desk.  I'm not too sure about this cat thing.
In fact, the whole darn room seems infested with them.
Here's a cat free photo to sooth your sensibilities. Everything is put away, maybe not in its forever home and maybe not organized well, but it is good enough for now*.
The Fine Print: *For now meaning the next 14 years or so...  Some days I think about setting it on fire and starting a new hobby like say baseball card collecting. Ha!

PS. I have a friend who wants to know who makes this embossing folder. Do you know?
Edited to add: it came free with a Papercraft Essentials magazines but can be found at craftstash.co.uk. Don't buy them all out until my friend gets one.

Pink and Happy

Recently a friend gifted me several lovely crafting goodies, including this embossing folder. I rarely remember to use embossing folders but now that my folders are in a more accessible place, perhaps that will change. I certainly used this one right away.

It makes a nice frame but I cut it out so I could get some polkie dotted pink in there to go with this yummy cupcake. I even got fancy and pulled out the liquid pearls to give my cupcake some pink sprinkles.

Flower Vase

I saw THIS card over on Maxine's blog and just knew I had to give this technique a try. Cutting out a panel to save it from embossing is much easier than a way I tried years ago which involved creating some mask out of cardboard and wasn't very effective. This is way effective and rather cool to boot.
So a big shout out to Maxine for sharing it with us. Truly if you haven't followed that link you really should to see what it looks like white on white.

Fancy Dancy Butterfly

A friend gave me several fancy dancy butterfly stickers. She said it was because she knew I would use them and not hoard them.  That put some serious pressure on me.

See, I usually refrain from buying these fanciful stickers because I don't think I can make a card that's great enough for their awesomeness and then there is the issue of who is worthy enough to receive such a card. Isn't that ridiculously silly?! I mean the sticker does all the work so I don't have to aspire to great heights and of course I know people worthy enough of this card.

Party Cow

The nice thing about getting my craft room (and my house) under control is that I can do workshops again. I like giving people something fun to make. It's fun when they take the base idea and run with it, but it's cool when they just make the card as-is too.  Here is what we made:
The Fine Print: All products by A Muse Studio. Cow, greeting, and party hat from "Go Hog Wild," matching "Go Hog Wild" and stitched landscape dies, onyx jewels and sugar, apple, sky, and wasabi petite hexagon cardstock. I suspect that cow has had one too many, judging by his ability to focus.

Lucky Kitty

I made this bright and cheerful kitty card as a way to welcome me into my new house and my new craft room.  I think he is kind of a lucky kitty because he was lucky enough to be the first stamp ever used in our new place. This card and what it represents makes me really happy.
I hope it makes you happy too! I'm going to share it with the "Show Us Your Pussies" cat lover's blog hop that I keep wanting to join but somehow never get cat cards made. Maybe I'm turning over a new (catnip) leaf!

Dragonfly Window Scene

As we packed up I found this long lost card tucked away between the desk and the wall. It is an oldie but goodie that I received in a swap once. I really liked it and have kept it for years. I was a bit disappointed to see that it got creased and bitten by a cat but overall it is still in fairly good shape.

What's on Your Workdesk?

My work desk has some boxes on it that hubby dumped there. The boxes hold the stuff that should be IN the desk. Who knows, maybe someday that will happen.  There is also the bag of prescriptions I picked up for a friend who is out of town (you know they put that stuff back on the shelf if you don't pick it up timely). The stack of lunch sacks is for a paper bag book class that I am teaching months from now. No, I'm not really ahead of the game....
Not even close...
 Not even a little bit....
Oh well, maybe a wee small bit, cuz look! The cardstock is put away!
The Fine Print: That's my desk in its new home. I joke and tell people it will be at least 6 months before I get to play again. And then I weep because maybe it isn't a joke

I just wanted to stop in and say that I'm not dead.

Cups and Cakes

Awhile ago I needed to make a cupcake card and I decided to be inspired by this card that I made at a workshop.
The cupcakes are on a front flap that folds down and holds the card shut. When opened it looks like this:
Now I know you want to see the card I made that was inspired by this.  Keep waiting because I haven't made it yet.  I got distracted by a shiny thing. Ha!

The Fine Print: Seize the cupcake is by Hero Arts, I don't remember who makes the cupcake stamp and the happy cupcake greeting. It's in a box cuz of course I had to buy more own after I made this card.

WOYWW 352: Full Frontal Nudity

What's on Your Workdesk this Wednesday, you ask?  Well, really next to nothing:
Oddly enough, nothing much next to the desk either:
Almost nothing in the craft closet too:
Pretty much nothing on the shelves behind the desk either, except for one lonely traveling craft tote:
Yep, so nothing to see here. Move along. Grab a box as you go though, would you?

The Fine Print: Ever wondered just how much random crap you owned? Pack it all up and move it to a new place and you'll find out.  I'm sure you'll be shocked and horrified. I know I am.

Blue and Brown

Sometimes you just need a quick card and that's when large greetings really come into play.  Stamp 'em out, slap on an embellishment or two, and maybe some faux homemade paper and call it good.
The Fine Print: I don't remember who makes this stamp but it is the company that woodburns the image into the wood, you know all fancy like, flowers by Prima, faux homemade paper by Club Scrap (it's not the least bit textured).
